MEW Mobile now supports BTC!
Founded in 2015 shortly after Ethereum’s mainnet launch, MyEtherWallet (MEW) began as a simple web-based interface for Ethereum and has grown into a suite of products supporting dozens of blockchain networks and ecosystems. Over the past decade, we've weathered multiple bear markets and launched beautiful, user-friendly mobile and browser wallets built for both beginners and experts. Now, you can manage your BTC in MEW Mobile app.
Use this guide to help import Bitcoin from your Exodus wallet into MEW Mobile, where you can hold it, swap it to ETH, stablecoins, or any other token, and put it to work earning you some crypto instead of just sitting there!
To start using your Bitcoin in MEW, you’ll need your Exodus Wallet phrase.
Open up your Exodus Wallet. Unlock your wallet then swipe down the wallet details.
Note: Only BTC from this wallet will be available in MEW at this time. MEW Mobile is only importing the key to the BTC account(s) you will select, protected under multiple layers of cryptographic and biometric security. MEW is NOT importing or saving your entire Exodus wallet phrase. Your Exodus wallet phrase and your existing MEW Mobile phrases are separate, and you should continue to keep them both secure.
You should see more options to choose from. Select ‘Settings’.
Select ‘Backups’.
Select the ‘Secret Phrase’ option.
Check the box stating you understand the risks.
After you click ‘View Secret Phrase’, your secret phrase will appear for anyone to see! Make sure you're alone and that no one can see your phone screen.
Once your secret phrase is displayed on screen, it’s best to write it down on a piece of paper rather than screenshotting it. Screenshots live on your phone and are vulnerable to being hacked.
Have your secret phrase written down and safe? Head back to the MEW Mobile app.
Back on the MEW Mobile app, you'll see these new options when you click on ‘Explore Bitcoin on MEW’ from the wallet home screen or switch to the Bitcoin network in the top left corner. Select ‘Move your Bitcoin to MEW’.
You can import your Exodus BTC account to MEW or you can send BTC from your Exodus wallet to your MEW Mobile wallet. Select ‘Import my BTC wallet’ to manage your BTC directly in MEW.
(Click ‘Send BTC to myself’ to copy your MEW BTC address and then paste it into your Exodus wallet to send BTC.)
Scroll down to see the ‘Import my BTC wallet’ button then select it.
Select ‘Import using a Secret Recovery Phrase’.
Check all the boxes after reading them carefully, then click ‘Continue’.
Enter your recovery phrase then click ‘Import’ at the top right.
Select the accounts you want to import then click ‘Finish Importing’.
Your Bitcoin wallet will start being imported into MEW Wallet. This process should take about a minute.
Once your Bitcoin wallet is done importing, click ‘Continue’.
You should now be able to see your Bitcoin wallet in your MEW Mobile app! You can swap your BTC to ETH and stake it, or swap to any other token on different EVM networks and use those tokens in various DeFi protocols.
